Al-hadeed means iron, and in classical Unani pharmacy iron was levigated with herbal juices for days on end before it was thought fit to enter a tonic at all. Laraib keeps that patience. The result is dark, faintly metallic and pleasantly sweet — a builder’s tonic for students, new mothers and anyone running on empty.
What it is traditionally used for
- Traditionally taken to support the body’s production of healthy red blood
- Long used where the blood is felt to be deficient and the person tires quickly
- Taken to help bring colour back to a pale, washed-out complexion
- Used as a strengthening tonic through convalescence and periods of weakness
- Traditionally taken to support normal liver function, on which blood quality depends
- A familiar Unani choice for growing children and students under strain
How it is made
Kushta-e-Foulad, the classical calcined iron, is ground exceedingly fine and levigated before it is folded into a herbal decoction drawn slowly from single-origin Pakistani fruits and flowers. The blend is syruped, filtered bright and filled under pharmaceutical control in Multan. Nothing artificial goes in — no synthetic colours, essences or preservatives.
How to take it
Shake well. Adults take two teaspoons twice a day after meals; children over seven, one teaspoon twice a day. Always take it after food rather than on an empty stomach and follow it with water. A six to eight week course is the traditional length before assessing how you feel.
Good to know
- 120 ml amber bottle with a measuring cap
- DRAP registration number 008031080818
- 100% natural Unani formulation; contains sugar
- The syrup may darken slightly with age — this is normal and harmless

Honest product at an honest price. I run a small clinic in Gujranwala and keep Al-Hadeed on the shelf for patients who cannot stretch to imported tonics. No complaints from anyone in two years.

I bought it for my mother after a long illness left her weak. She has more energy in the mornings and her appetite came back first. She now finishes a bottle before I can order the next one.

The syrup itself is good — dark, not too sweet, easy to take after food. It took eight days to reach Hyderabad though, and the courier left it sitting in the sun. Bottle was fine, but worth mentioning.

My daughter is fifteen and always pale and tired. Two teaspoons twice a day for six weeks and her colour is noticeably better, and she is not falling asleep over her books at eight in the evening. We will do another course.
