Three decades of herbal craft in Multan

Laraib Herbal Pharma has made sharbat, arqiyat and rub the long way since 1998 — in our own DRAP-licensed plant, from herbs we buy whole and process ourselves.

About Laraib Herbal Pharma

Multan has traded in herbs for as long as anyone can remember — the seed markets, the rose fields around Kasur, the plum and pomegranate orchards of the southern belt. Laraib Herbal Pharma started in 1998 by doing one narrow thing carefully: buying those raw materials whole, and turning them into sharbat and arq the way the old Unani manuals describe, without the shortcuts that were already becoming normal in the trade.

Nearly thirty years later the equipment has changed and the volumes are unrecognisable, but the sequence has not. Herbs are still washed and graded by hand before they go anywhere near a still. Syrups are still reduced in open jacketed pans where a person can watch the colour turn. And every bottle that leaves the plant still carries a batch number that leads back to the sack it came from.

64 registered formulations
900+ stockists & hakeem clinics
28 years of continuous production
100% made in our own Multan plant

Laraib Herbal Pharma has been preparing pure Unani formulations in Multan since 1998. What began as a single hakeem’s dispensary is today a DRAP-licensed manufacturing plant on Dera Muhdi Road producing more than sixty formulations for families across Pakistan.

A word from our founder

My father judged a batch of arq by holding the glass up to the window and smelling it — nothing else. We have instruments now, and I am glad of them. But the day a bottle passes the laboratory and fails that window is the day we stop selling it.

Milestones

From a workshop to a licensed plant

Six moments that changed how — and how much — we make. Nothing here happened quickly; herbal manufacturing rewards patience more than ambition.

Company milestones

  1. 1998

A single copper still in Multan

Laraib Herbal Pharma begins in a two-room workshop off Dera Muhdi Road with one copper still, a hand-operated capper and four classical recipes — Sharbat Anar, Arq Gulab, Arq Sonf and Rub Aloo Bukhara. Everything is sold in returnable glass to shops within a bicycle ride of the door.

  2. 2004

    First DRAP registrations granted

Formal registration turns a family workshop into a licensed Unani manufacturer. Batch records, retained samples and expiry dating become mandatory in-house from this year on — a discipline we have never dropped, even for the smallest 120 ml bottle.

  3. 2011

The Dera Muhdi Road plant opens

A purpose-built facility replaces the workshop: separate herb washing and drying halls, a stainless extraction floor, a dedicated syrup kitchen with jacketed pans, and — for the first time — our own quality-control laboratory rather than a rented bench elsewhere in the city.

  4. 2018

    The sugar-free arqiyat range

Rising diabetes across South Punjab pushes us to widen the distillate range rather than sweeten it. Arq Gulab, Arq Podina, Arq Sonf and Arq Kasni are re-worked for a cleaner, stronger aroma with no added sugar at all, and packaged for daily household use.

  5. 2024

    64 formulations, 900 stockists

The catalogue reaches 64 registered formulations across sharbat, arqiyat, rub, pharma syrups, capsules, oils and powders, carried by roughly 900 stockists and hakeem clinics from Karachi to Peshawar. Production moves to two shifts through the summer season.

  6. 2026

    Laraib Organic Store goes live

The online store opens so a household in any city can order the same batch a hakeem would — sealed, dated and dispatched from the plant itself, with cash on delivery nationwide and a tracking number by SMS.

What we hold to

Four rules we have never bent

They cost us money every single season. They are also the only reason a hakeem in Bahawalpur will still take our word on a batch after twenty-five years.

Our values

Whole herbs, never extracts of convenience

We buy dried flower, seed, bark and fruit by the sack and process it ourselves. Ready-made concentrates are cheaper and faster — they are also anonymous, and we would not be able to tell you which field a batch came from.

Method before margin

Arq Gulab still comes off a copper still at a slow, watched temperature; sharbat still reduces in an open jacketed pan. Both cost hours we could save with a shortcut, and both are the reason the aroma survives the bottle.

Everything traceable to a batch

Every carton carries a batch number, a manufacturing date and an expiry date, and every batch has a retained sample sitting in our own laboratory until well past that expiry. If you ever query a bottle, we can open its file.

Honest about what herbs can do

We describe traditional use, taste and comfort — not cures. Where a preparation is simply a pleasant, cooling summer drink, that is exactly what the label says. Trust is the only thing that compounds over three decades.

Taste the difference

Order the same batch a hakeem would

Every bottle in the online store is drawn from the same production runs that supply our 900 stockists — sealed, batch-coded and dispatched straight from the plant in Multan.
