Every household in the Punjab keeps some version of imli in the kitchen — for chutney, for chaat, for whatever has been eaten too much of. Laraib turned that instinct into a proper digestive sharbat, pairing tamarind with soft aloo bukhara so the sourness is rounded rather than harsh, and the whole family will actually drink it.
What it is traditionally used for
- Correcting and toning the liver, in the classical Unani sense of islah
- Improving the general working of the stomach day to day
- Bringing relief in indigestion, particularly after rich or fried food
- Removing complaints of nausea and vomiting
- Relieving constipation and keeping things moving comfortably
How it is made
The tamarind is soaked and pressed through fine muslin so no fibre carries over, and the plums are pulped separately to keep their softer, fruitier note distinct. The two are blended and cooked down slowly with sugar. All fruit is single-origin and nothing artificial is added — no synthetic souring agent, colour or preservative.
How to take it
Mix two tablespoons into a full glass of chilled water; it wants more dilution than a plain fruit sharbat because of the tang. Take it after lunch or dinner. Made up in a jug with ice it serves well at a family table, and children usually take it happily with a little extra water.

My husband has a sensitive stomach and rich food used to keep him awake. Two spoons after dinner and that has stopped. We have reordered three times from Rawalpindi now.

Good digestive and reasonably priced for 800 ml. It does need more water than the label suggests to my taste. Arrived in Mirpur in four days, packaging was solid.

I make a jug of this every Friday when we cook biryani. Nobody feels heavy afterwards. Tastes of real imli, and the plum keeps it from being too sharp for the little ones.

Bought it as a cold drink replacement for the children in Okara and it turned out to be the thing that fixed my own after-meal bloating. Sweet and sour balance is well judged.
