No cupboard in the subcontinent is properly stocked without a small bottle of loung ka tel. Its reputation was built on toothache, but the Unani texts send it much further — into stiff joints, weak muscles and the slow work of restoring feeling to a limb. How it is made
Whole clove buds from a single growing region are steam-distilled at low pressure so that the eugenol-rich volatile fraction is captured intact rather than driven off by high heat. The distillate is separated, clarified and filled straight into small amber bottles. No dilution beyond the small measure of sesame carrier, no synthetic eugenol and nothing artificial added.
How to take it
For a tooth or gum, put one drop on a small twist of cotton wool and hold it against the sore spot for a few minutes; do not swallow, and rinse afterwards. For joints and muscles, dilute five to ten drops in a tablespoon of warm sesame or mustard oil and massage into the area twice a day. Never apply the undiluted oil over a large area of skin.
