Ajwain is the seed every Pakistani grandmother reaches for when a meal sits heavily — a pinch chewed with salt, a spoonful steeped in warm water. Laraib concentrates that same warming, carminative character into an oil. Thirty millilitres of ajwain and nothing else, potent enough that a few drops do the work of a generous handful of seeds.
What it is traditionally used for
- Taken in warm water for indigestion and a heavy, sluggish stomach
- Long used to relieve flatulence, wind and the bloating that follows rich food
- Taken to help ease constipation and keep the bowel moving comfortably
- Used in general stomach disorder to settle griping and discomfort
- Massaged into the skin for its soothing warmth on muscular pain
- Rubbed into stiff joints as a traditional external application
How it is made
Whole ajwain seed from a single growing belt in southern Punjab is cleaned, cold-pressed and then blended with a light sesame base so it can be dosed safely in drops. It is filtered clear and bottled without dilution beyond that base. Nothing artificial is added — no mineral oil, no synthetic thymol, no fragrance and no colour.
How to take it
Internally, take 3–5 drops in half a cup of warm water after meals, once or twice a day; a little honey makes it easier to swallow. Externally, warm a few drops between the palms and massage into the aching muscle or joint until absorbed. Begin at the lower dose — this oil is strong.

I use it both ways. Drops in water for the stomach, and my wife rubs it on my calves after long drives from Bahawalpur. Genuine pure oil, not the diluted stuff sold loose in the bazaar.

Effective, no doubt — my bloating settles quickly. The smell is very strong though, much stronger than the ajwain we cook with in Gujranwala, so honey is essential for me to get it down.

Four drops in warm water after dinner and the gas problem I had for years in Peshawar is largely gone. I was sceptical about such a small bottle but it has lasted me nearly two months.
