The carton has always called Jigreena an elixir for the liver, and the phrase is not idle. Unani physicians have treated the jigar as the source of the body’s blood and vitality, and this syrup follows the classical bazoori pattern of bitter, cooling and diuretic herbs. Laraib has made it to the same formula since the pharmacy’s early years in Multan.
What it is traditionally used for
- Traditionally taken to strengthen a weak or tired liver
- Long used for the range of complaints that Unani medicine traces to a disordered liver
- Traditionally taken to support healthy blood where there is deficiency and pallor
- Used as supportive herbal care in jaundice, alongside a doctor’s treatment
- Taken to relieve burning and heat of the bladder in hot weather
How it is made
Chicory root and seed, black nightshade and rose are steeped overnight, then brought to a long, low decoction so the cooling bitters pass fully into the liquor. It is filtered bright, lightly sweetened and bottled at Multan. Herbs are bought single-origin from known growers, and nothing artificial is added.
How to take it
Adults take two teaspoons twice a day, morning and evening, half an hour after food. In hot weather it is pleasant stirred into half a glass of cool water. A course of one month is usual, and it sits comfortably alongside a light diet with plenty of water.

My wife had very low haemoglobin after her second baby. Her doctor kept her on iron and the hakeem added this. Six weeks later her colour is much better and she is not exhausted by midday.

I take it every summer. Living in Hyderabad the heat wrecks my digestion by June, and a month of this settles everything down. My skin also clears up, which I did not expect.

Ordered on our hakeem’s advice in Rawalpindi. It is genuinely bitter, so I take it with cold water. After a month my energy in the afternoons is noticeably better. Price is fair for a 120 ml bottle.
