Real rose water smells soft rather than sharp, and settles rather than announces itself. Laraib’s is distilled from whole damask petals picked in the cool of the morning and charged into the still the same day, with water and nothing else. It has been a fixture of Pakistani dressing tables and Eid kitchens for as long as anyone can remember.

How it is made
Whole damask rose petals are charged into the still with water alone and taken up on gentle steam. The vapour is condensed slowly and only the fragrant middle fraction is kept, which is why the scent holds rather than fading in an hour. Single-origin roses; no essence, no alcohol, no glycerine and no preservative in the bottle.
How to take it
For the face, dampen cotton wool and sweep over clean skin morning and night, then let it dry rather than wiping it off. Keep a bottle chilled and mist it over the face in hot weather. In the kitchen, a teaspoon is enough to perfume a whole dish.
