Every Punjabi kitchen knows what mint does after a heavy meal, and arq-e-podina is that instinct bottled. In Unani terms it is muqawwi-e-mida and kasir-e-riyah at once — a tonic for the stomach and a breaker of wind. Laraib distils it from fresh leaf, never dried, which is why it smells like a crushed sprig rather than a sweet.
What it is traditionally used for
- Toning and strengthening the stomach with regular use
- Expelling trapped wind and relieving the tightness of bloating
- Settling nausea and a churning stomach
- Sharpening a dull appetite before meals
- Increasing digestive power so heavy food sits more comfortably
- Suitable for men and women alike, day after day
How it is made
Fresh mint is cut in the cool of the morning, washed and distilled the same day so the volatile oil never has a chance to fade. Steam passes gently through the leaf and the condensate is collected in fractions, with only the aromatic heart kept. Our mint comes from a single farming belt near Multan. Nothing artificial is added.
How to take it
Take 30 to 60 ml morning and evening, or simply after a heavy meal when the stomach feels tight. It is excellent chilled and mixed half and half with cold water on a summer afternoon, and equally good warm with a pinch of black salt when there is nausea. Children over ten may take half the adult measure.

Lovely product and the 800 ml lasts our family a good month. Taste is clean and not sweet at all, which took me a day to get used to but I prefer it now. Wish there were a smaller size for travel.

I get travel sickness on the Lahore to Multan road every single time. My mother started giving me this warm with a little black salt before the journey and it has genuinely helped. I now carry a small bottle.

Smells exactly like fresh mint from the sabzi mandi, which tells you it is real. I keep it on the dining table in Peshawar. Half a glass after dinner and the heaviness is gone within minutes.
