Few herbs carry a reputation in Unani medicine quite like mako. The old physicians called black nightshade the elixir of the liver, and it is still the first arq a hakeem in Multan will name when the complaint is heat, swelling or a liver under strain. How it is made
Fresh mako is harvested young, sorted by hand and steeped before a slow steam distillation that lifts the plant’s water-soluble essence and leaves the coarse matter behind. The crop comes from a single growing belt around Multan so each batch tastes the same. Nothing artificial is added — no sweetener, no preservative, no colour.
How to take it
Take 30 to 60 ml morning and evening, on an empty stomach if you can manage it, either plain or cut with an equal amount of water. It is mild rather than bitter and needs no masking. Do not exceed the stated measure — with mako, a steady modest dose over several weeks is the traditional approach.
