Some drinks are simply woven into the season. Rooh-e-Kosar is the one poured at iftar, handed to a guest at the door, mixed by the jug when cousins arrive. Laraib builds it on genuine arqiyat — rose, cardamom and almond distillates — rather than a flavour concentrate, which is why it tastes layered instead of merely sweet.
What it is traditionally used for
- Bringing severe thirst back into balance rather than just wetting the mouth
- Cooling and refreshing the body through the fiercest part of the summer
- Soothing and reviving the spirit when the heat has drained everything out of you
- Bringing comfort in ghabrahat — nervous agitation and unease
- Settling restlessness of the heart and helping the mind quieten
- Serving as an uplifting everyday drink for the whole household
How it is made
Rose petals and green cardamom are steam-distilled separately into clear arqiyat, and almonds are cold-pressed for their milk, so each component keeps its own character. These are blended into a slowly cooked syrup base off the boil, protecting the aromatics. Ingredients are single-origin and nothing artificial is added — no essence, no synthetic colour, no preservative.
How to take it
Two tablespoons in a glass of chilled water or cold milk is the standard serving; in milk it becomes the richer, creamier version most people grew up on. Make it up in a jug with ice for a gathering. A glass at iftar or in the late afternoon is when it does its best work.
Good to know
- Supplied in an 800 ml family bottle
- Built on real distillates (arqiyat), not flavouring concentrate
- 100% natural and halal marked, with no artificial colour
- Contains sugar; keep cool and refrigerate once opened

I get restless and anxious in the heat and a cold glass of this in the late afternoon genuinely settles me. It has become part of the routine at home in Faisalabad through the summer.

Very good quality and lovely aroma. I find it a touch sweeter than I would like with water, so I use it in milk instead. Delivery to Jhelum was quick and the bottle was properly sealed.

Bought it for guests and ended up drinking most of it myself. Not as sugary as the big commercial brands and the rose is real. My mother-in-law asked me to order her two bottles.

We go through two bottles a week in Ramadan. Made with cold milk it is exactly what you want at iftar after a long fast in Multan. The cardamom actually comes through, which most brands miss.
