In Unani medicine, health is said to begin at the stomach. Safoof Al-Hazim follows that older logic — a fine, warm-scented powder of carminative seeds and roots, ground to be taken at the close of a heavy meal rather than swallowed in a panic afterwards. Laraib has made it to the same house formula in Multan since 1998, unchanged and unhurried.
What it is traditionally used for
- Relieving badhazmi — indigestion and the heaviness that follows a rich or late meal
- Settling nausea and the urge to vomit after eating
- Stopping sour, acidic belching that repeats through the evening
- Clearing the burning sensation felt in the chest after a large meal
- Helping food break down comfortably so appetite returns by the next mealtime
How it is made
Whole seeds and roots are cleaned, sun-dried and slowly stone-ground so their volatile oils are not lost to heat, then sifted through fine mesh until the powder is even and free-flowing. Each botanical is bought single-origin from growers we have used for years. Nothing artificial is added — no colour, no filler, no synthetic flavouring.
How to take it
Take one level teaspoon (about 5 g) with a little warm water roughly half an hour after your main meal, once or twice a day. Some prefer it stirred into a few spoons of yoghurt or lassi, which softens the pepper-warmth considerably. It works best taken consistently after the meal you find heaviest.
Good to know
- Supplied in a 60 g wide-mouth jar with a tight-sealing cap
- Manufactured in Laraib Herbal Pharma’s DRAP-licensed facility in Multan
- 100% natural — no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives
- Always use a clean, dry spoon; moisture will cake the powder

My father has used Laraib’s digestive powder for years and I finally ordered it myself. Same smell, same effect. Reliable, honest product.

Works well for the burning I get after fried food. I mix it into yoghurt because plain water makes it quite sharp. Delivery to Karachi took five days, otherwise no complaints.

Bought it after a wedding season of nihari and biryani. Two weeks in, the heaviness after meals is gone. Jar is smaller than I expected but a teaspoon goes a long way.

We eat late in Lahore and my husband would sit up half the night with sour burps. He takes a spoon of this after dinner now and sleeps through. The taste is peppery but he says that is the point.
