Unani medicine has always treated the skin as a window onto the blood, and the musaffi-e-khoon — the blood purifier — is one of its oldest categories of remedy. Safeen belongs squarely in that tradition. It is a bitter-sweet decoction of the classical cleansing herbs, made for the weeks after the first monsoon rain when faces break out and boils appear from nowhere.

How it is made
Single-origin dried herbs are steeped overnight and then simmered as a slow decoction until the water has drawn out their bitter active fraction, after which the liquor is strained, reduced and lightly sweetened to make it drinkable. Slow, low-heat extraction protects the delicate constituents. No artificial colour, flavour or preservative is added.
How to take it
Adults, two teaspoons three times a day after meals; children over twelve, one teaspoon three times a day. Take it with half a glass of water and drink plenty of water through the rest of the day, since a purifier works best when the body has fluid to work with. Give it four to six weeks — skin changes slowly.
