In the Unani tradition the head is treated from the outside as well as the inside, and Roghan Dimaghi is the oil hakeems reach for when the complaint is a mind that has been worked too hard. Laraib follows the classical cerebral-tonic formula — almond, cooling seeds, violet and sandalwood — compounded slowly in Multan so the finished oil is calming rather than merely fragrant.
What it is traditionally used for
- Taken as a tonic to give strength to the brain and steady the mind
- Massaged into the scalp to help reduce mental tension and nervous strain
- Recommended in the old texts for those who work with their minds — students, teachers, clerks and professionals
- Used to support concentration through long stretches of study or desk work
- Applied at night as a soothing scalp massage that helps the head unwind before sleep
How it is made
Sweet almond oil is compounded with cooling gourd and lettuce seed, sweet violet and white sandalwood, then cooked by the classical damp-heat method until the water content has fully evaporated and only the medicated oil remains. Single-origin herbs, filtered clear, with no mineral oil, synthetic fragrance or artificial colour added.
How to take it
Pour about a teaspoon into the palm, part the hair, and massage into the scalp with slow circular pressure for five to ten minutes — the temples and the base of the skull matter as much as the crown. Best done at night, three or four times a week, and left in until morning. A few drops behind the ears during a long study session are enough on their own.

Good oil and the big bottle is fair value. It is heavier than Roghan Kahu so I only use it at night, never before leaving the house. Took a week to reach Peshawar but arrived sealed and intact.

Bought the 120 ml for my son during his intermediate exams. He complained about the smell for two days and then started asking for it himself before study. He sleeps properly now, which was the real problem.

I sit in front of screens ten hours a day in Lahore and the evening headache was becoming routine. Ten minutes of this on the scalp and it eases off. The sandalwood note is subtle, not overpowering, which I appreciate.
