Roghan badam sits somewhere between medicine and luxury in a Pakistani home — a spoonful in warm milk for a child sitting exams, a few drops worked through hair before Friday prayers. Laraib cold-presses sweet almond kernels without heat or solvent, so the oil stays pale, faintly sweet and light enough to be taken by mouth with pleasure.
What it is traditionally used for
- Taken in warm milk as a classical tonic for the brain and the whole body
- Long given to students and elders alike to support memory and concentration
- Taken as a gentle, non-griping laxative when the bowel is dry
- Used to relieve dryness of the intestines and the discomfort that comes with it
- Massaged into the hair to strengthen the strands from root to tip
- Worked through the lengths to leave hair soft, smooth and shining
How it is made
Sweet almond kernels from a single-origin supplier are shelled, sorted by hand and cold-pressed on a slow expeller that never lets the kernel heat, so the oil keeps its pale colour and delicate sweetness. No solvent is used and no refining is needed. It is settled, filtered and bottled. Nothing artificial is added — no mineral oil, no fragrance, no preservative.
How to take it
Internally, take 1 teaspoon (5 ml) in a glass of warm milk at bedtime — the traditional way, and the most pleasant. Externally, warm a few drops in the palms and work through damp hair and scalp, leaving overnight before washing. It is light enough to use on the face and body as a daily moisturiser.

No complaints about the oil, it is clearly the genuine article. Six hundred and fifty rupees is a lot compared to other brands, though I understand pure almond oil cannot be cheap. I still bought a second bottle in Multan.

Real cold-pressed badam oil, you can smell the difference the moment you open it. I use it for constipation instead of tablets and it works gently, no cramping at all. Sending a bottle to my sister in DG Khan.

I bought this for hair and ended up using it on my face too. Absorbs in minutes, no greasy shine. Far better quality than the almond oil sold in Sialkot general stores, and the 120 ml lasts.

A spoon in warm milk for my son every night through his board exams, as my mother did for me in Karachi. He sleeps better and there is no more complaining about a dry stomach in the mornings.
