Chau arqa means, simply, four distillates. It is one of the oldest compounding ideas in Unani practice — distil each herb on its own so nothing is muddied, then bring the four together in proportion. The result is the bottle that comes out after a wedding dinner in Multan, when the food has been rich and everyone has eaten more than they meant to.
What it is traditionally used for
- Aiding digestion after heavy, oily or late meals
- Expelling riyah — the wind that leaves the abdomen tight and uncomfortable
- Settling nausea and easing vomiting
- Relieving cramping stomach pain
- Supporting the working comfort of both stomach and liver
- Helping the body dissolve surplus fat with regular use
How it is made
Each of the four herbs is distilled separately, so a weak crop of one never dilutes the character of the others, and the four arqs are then blended to a fixed traditional ratio. All raw material is single-origin and inspected before distillation. The blend is filtered cold and bottled exactly as it comes off the stills, with nothing artificial added.
How to take it
Half a glass — around 50 to 60 ml — after a heavy meal is the usual household measure, and 30 ml morning and evening if you are taking it as a course. It is at its best slightly chilled but never iced, which dulls the aromatics. A pinch of black salt suits those who find plain distillates flat.

Does what it says for digestion. I have not noticed anything on the fat-dissolving side after a month, so I would set expectations there. For wind and bloating though it is very effective.
