Podina is the first thing any grandmother reaches for when a stomach is unsettled, and Unani practice has agreed with her for a very long time. Laraib made this one sugar-free deliberately: a digestive should not undo its own work. What is left is clean mint, cooling on the tongue and unmistakably medicinal in the best sense.
What it is traditionally used for
- Correcting and supporting the digestive system as a whole
- Relieving badhazmi and the general run of stomach disorders
- Settling nausea and the urge to vomit, including travel queasiness
- Easing sour belching and the gas and bloating of tabkheer-e-mida
- Bringing comfort during episodes of loose motions
- Forming part of a light, cooling regimen where blood pressure is a concern
How it is made
Fresh mint from a single growing source is cut and steam-distilled the same day, before the leaf loses its volatile oil. The distillate is blended into a sugar-free base at low temperature so the menthol note survives intact. No cane sugar, no artificial colour, no synthetic mint essence and no chemical preservative go into the bottle.
How to take it
Two teaspoons in half a glass of water after meals is the usual way, taken up to three times a day while symptoms last. For nausea, sip it slowly rather than drinking it down. It also mixes well into plain lassi or chilled water for an everyday cooling drink.

Very effective for bloating and I like that there is no sugar. The taste is quite strong on its own so I always dilute it well. Wish the 240 ml came in a larger size too.

Proper mint, not sweet at all, which was the point for me. Used it through a week of stomach trouble and it did more than the tablets I was given. Reordered immediately.

We take the bottle with us on the Karachi to Sukkur road trip. My daughter gets travel sick and a few sips settles her within minutes. Small bottle but it lasts because it is strong.

I am diabetic and had given up on sharbats entirely. This one I can actually take. Two teaspoons after dinner in Lahore and the gas and belching that used to keep me up have gone.
